- Remove the harness clamps (A), then disconnect the positive alternator cable (B) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Remove the powertrain control module (PCM) cover (A).
- Remove the harness clamps (A), then disconnect the two PCM connectors (B) and the engine wire harness connector (C).
- Remove the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the power steering (P/S) pump inlet hose (A) and the P/S pump outlet hose (B) from the P/S pump, then plug the P/S lines and the P/S pump.
- Remove the P/S hose bracket (C) from the rear cylinder head cover.
- Wait until the engine is cool, then carefully remove the radiator cap.
- Raise the vehicle on the lift.
- Remove the front wheels.
- Remove the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
- Wait until the engine is cool, then carefully remove the radiator cap. Loosen the drain plug in the radiator, and drain the engine coolant (see COOLANT CHECK ).
- Drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) (see ATF REPLACEMENT ).
- Drain the engine oil (see ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the front sub-frame stiffener.
- Remove exhaust pipe A.
- Separate the tie-rod end ball joints from the knuckles (see step 3 on KNUCKLE REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the driveshafts (see FRONT DRIVESHAFT REMOVAL ). Coat all precision-finished surfaces with new engine oil. Tie plastic bags over the driveshaft ends.
- 4WD model: Remove the transfer assembly (see TRANSFER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL ).
- Disconnect the P/S hose (A) and the ATF cooler hoses (B), then plug the lines and the hoses.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector.
- Lower the vehicle on the lift.
- Remove the radiator (see RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT ).
- Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
- Remove the connector bracket (A) from the front cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the engine hanger balance bar front arm.
- Remove the harness clamp bracket (A) from the rear cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033).
- Remove the cowl top side cover (A) from both sides.
- With the A and Reds engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) on its side, insert the hanger beam (B) through the opening, then rotate it over the damper (C).
- Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a spacers (B) and the bolt (10 x 1.25 mm) (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033) Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (D).
- Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (E) by hand to lift and support the engine/transmission.NOTE:
- Be careful when working around the windshield.
- Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
