Engine Oil Cooler: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DRAIN ENGINE OIL  (See REPLACEMENT  )
  6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  7. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE OIL FILTER ELEMENT  (See REPLACEMENT  )
  10. REMOVE OIL PRESSURE SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  11. DISCONNECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  12. REMOVE NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.
    2. Disconnect the 4 hoses and remove the water bypass pipe.

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL COOLER BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and bracket.
    2. Disconnect the ground wire from the cylinder block.

  14. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and filter bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 O-rings.

  15. REMOVE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 5 nuts and oil cooler from the oil filter bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 O-rings.

  16. REMOVE OIL COOLER SPACER 
    1. Remove the bolt and oil cooler spacer from the oil filter bracket.

    2. Remove the gasket.
