DTC P0182: Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input

  1. Perform test procedure. See TESTING PROCEDURE . Start engine. Using a scan tool, observe fuel temperature sensor signal. If fuel temperature sensor signal is greater than 302°F (150°C), go to next step. If fuel temperature sensor signal is not more than 302°F (150°C), circuit has returned to normal. Check for intermittent conditions. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove fuel pump access cover located in right rear of trunk floor (sedan) or luggage compartment floor (wagon). On Forester, Impreza and Outback Sport, disconnect 6-pin fuel pump harness connector. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . On Legacy and Outback, disconnect Gray 6-pin fuel pump harness connector. See Fig 3. Turn ignition on. Using a scan tool, observe fuel temperature sensor signal. If fuel temperature sensor signal is less than -40°F (-40°C), replace fuel temperature sensor. If fuel temperature sensor signal is not less than -40°F (-40°C), locate and repair short to ground in wiring between fuel pump and ECM.
