Fail-Safe System Check
- When control module senses a fault, cruise control operation is suspended and CRUISE indicator light blinks, until fault no longer is apparent. The following conditions can cause fail-safe system to operate:
- Steering wheel command switch stuck.
- Vacuum motor power or ground open.
- Vacuum air or release valve ground open.
- Vacuum air or release valve power circuit open or shorted.
- Vehicle speed sensor faulty.
- Control module internal malfunction.
- Brake cancel switch or stoplight switch faulty.
- Turn ignition and cruise control switch on. If CRUISE indicator light does not blink, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light blinks, perform the following procedures in order listed.
- Drive vehicle and turn cruise control main switch on. Press cruise control SET/COAST switch. If CRUISE indicator light does not blink, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light blinks, perform the following procedures in order listed.
- With ignition on and cruise control main switch on, press brake pedal for at least 5 seconds. If CRUISE indicator light does not blink, cruise control module is not detecting a fault. If CRUISE indicator light blinks, perform CLUTCH & BRAKE CANCEL CIRCUIT CHECK .
If no faults are found and CRUISE indicator light still blinks, replace cruise control module.
If no faults are found and CRUISE indicator light still blinks, replace cruise control module.
