Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Check

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect cruise control module harness connector. Connect voltmeter positive lead to control module harness connector terminal No. 7. See Figure . Connect negative voltmeter lead to harness connector terminal No. 3. Slowly turn drive wheel. If voltmeter momentarily indicates voltage, vehicle speed sensor circuit is okay. If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  2. Restore all electrical connections. Check speedometer operation. If speedometer does not operate properly, see INSTRUMENT PANEL article for further diagnosis of vehicle speed sensor circuit. If speedometer does operate properly, check circuit between cruise control module terminal No. 7 and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
