Command Switch Circuit Check

  1. Disconnect cruise control module harness connector. Measure voltage between specified control module harness connector terminals while pressing each command switch. See COMMAND CIRCUIT TEST  table. See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist when specified, go to next step. If voltage exists when specified, command switch and circuit are okay.

    SET/COAST 2 & 3
    RESUME/ACC 1 & 3
    CANCEL 12 & 3; 1 & 3
  2. Press horn button. If horn works, go to next step. If horn does not work when horn button is pressed, check fuses and replace any faulty fuses. If all fuses are okay, check horn relay. See RELAY TESTS  under COMPONENT TESTING. If horn relay is okay, check horn and cruise control main switch circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Check cruise control command switch assembly. See COMMAND SWITCH ASSEMBLY  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace command switch assembly if necessary. If command switch is okay, check circuits between command switch assembly and control module for open or shorts. Repair as necessary.
