Preliminary Procedure

  1. Verify customer's complaint by operating power windows. Check window alignment and window mounting. Check for window frame interference or damaged switches. Check for blown fuse(s), loose or corroded connectors, or damaged wiring harness. Repair or replace components as necessary.
  2. If all components are okay, connect NGS tester to DLC located below instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If NGS tester displays CKT 914 or CKT 915=ALL MODULES NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to continue diagnosis. If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Driver Door Module (DDM), go to TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DDM  under SYSTEM TESTING. If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Lighting Control Module (LCM), go to TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH LCM  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  3. If DDM is not listed for a communication concern, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ensure all doors are closed. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Perform DDM self-test diagnostics using NGS tester. If DDM exits diagnostic state during self-test and returns to normal operation state, go to TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DDM  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  4. If LCM is not listed for a communication concern, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Perform LCM self-test diagnostics using NGS tester. If LCM exits diagnostic state during self-test and returns to normal operation state, go to TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH LCM  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  5. If DDM DTC B1549 is retrieved, go to TEST C: ALL WINDOWS ARE INOPERATIVE  under SYSTEM TESTING. If any other DDM DTCs are retrieved, see DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) DTC INDEX table to continue diagnosis. If any other LCM DTCs are retrieved, see LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) DTC INDEX  table to continue diagnosis. If no DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTING  .
