Retrieving Codes (DTCS)

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, or equivalent, to the air suspension/EVO steering test connector. Test connector is located in front of the passenger side shock tower. See Figure .For connector terminal identification, see Fig 1 .

  2. Execute Function Test 211. Record stored DTCs. For aftermarket scan tools, follower scan tool manufacturer's instructions for retrieving DTCs.
  3. Run Auto Test Diagnostics to determine which DTCs are currently being detected.
  4. If stored DTCs are different than current DTCs, repair current DTCs first.
  5. If more than one DTC is displayed in stored or current memory, repair in the following order:
    • Electrical Faults: DTC 25, DTCs 50 through 95
    • Electro-Pneumatic Faults: DTCs 98 through 99
    • Courtesy Lamp Switches, DTC 29; Steering Wheel Rotation Sensor, DTC 45
  6. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to SYMPTOM CHARTS  to diagnosis non-electrical related steering problems.
  7. If DTCs are retrieved, go to AIR SUSPENSION/EVO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table to continue diagnosis.
  8. If NGS tester or scan tool cannot communicate with air suspension/EVO module, go to TEST C: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE MODULE - EVO CONTROL MODULE  .
NOTE: Prior to testing for any of the following DTCs, repair DTC 18 for low battery voltage or DTC 19 for high battery voltage to determine power and ground. If no fault is found, do not replace any parts, but continue with listed DTCs.
