Complete PCI Bus Failure

  1. Connect Breakout Box (J-1962) to DLC. Connect scan tool to breakout box. Connect Scope Input Cable (CH 7058) to channel No. 1 connector on scan tool. Connect Red and Black test probe cable with Probe Adapter (CH7062) to scope input cable. Select DRB STANDALONE. Select LAB SCOPE, then LIVE. Select 12 VOLT SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for scope. Press F2 and use down arrow to set voltage range to 20 volts. Press F2. Connect Black lead to breakout box port No. 4. Connect Red lead to terminal No. 2. Turn ignition on. If voltage displayed on scan tool lab scope pluses from zero to about 7.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is zero volts, go to PCI BUS SHORT TO GROUND  . If a constant voltage is displayed, go to PCI BUS SHORT TO BATTERY  .
  2. Remove driver's side knee blocker below steering column. Inspect junction port connector. Splice connector should be fully seated. Correct as needed. If splice is correctly seated, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Ensure breakout box is connected to DLC. Disconnect splice from junction port connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance of Yellow/Violet wire between terminal No. 2 on breakout box and terminal No. 9 on junction port. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, test is complete. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Yellow/Violet wire.
