Power Seat/Mirror Memory System Check

NOTE: Perform this check before diagnosing symptoms. Proceed to appropriate symptom under SYSTEM TESTING  unless directed otherwise.
  1. Place transmission gear selector in Park position. Move left front seat switch in all positions. If seat operates as commanded, go to next step. If seat does not operate as commanded, go to one of following tests:
  2. Press MEMORY-1/MEMORY-2 button. Single chime should be heard. Left front seat, lumbar support and both mirrors should move to programmed positions for driver-1/driver-2. If seat and mirrors do not move to programmed positions, go to MEMORY FUNCTION SWITCH INOPERATIVE .
  3. Press EXIT button. Single chime should be heard. Left front seat should move to exit position. If seat does not move to easy exit position, go to MEMORY FUNCTION SWITCH INOPERATIVE .
  4. Move left lumbar switch to UP and DOWN positions. Left lumbar support should move up and down. If lumbar support does not move up and down, go to LEFT LUMBAR SUPPORT DOES NOT MOVE MANUALLY IN ONE DIRECTION .
  5. Move left lumbar support switch to IN and OUT positions. Lumbar support should move in and out. If lumbar support does not move in and out, go to LEFT LUMBAR SUPPORT DOES NOT MOVE MANUALLY IN ONE DIRECTION .
  6. Move left front seat, lumbar support and both mirrors to desired position. Seat, lumbar support and both mirrors should move as commanded. Press and hold MEMORY-1 button for appropriate driver for 3 seconds. A single chime should be heard, confirming current positions are now stored. Move seat, lumbar support and both mirrors to random positions. Seat, lumbar support and mirrors should move as commanded. Press MEMORY-1 button. Seat, lumbar support and mirrors should return to positions stored. If seat, lumbar support and mirrors do not move as specified, go to MEMORY FUNCTION SWITCH INOPERATIVE .
  7. Apply parking brake. Move transmission selector out of Park position. Briefly press MEMORY-1 button. Seat and mirrors should not move. If seat and mirrors do move, see appropriate wiring diagram in SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS article.
  8. Press DRIVER-1 UNLOCK button on keyless entry transmitter. Wait until seat movement is finished. Press DRIVER-2 UNLOCK button on keyless entry transmitter. Wait until seat movement is finished. There are 3 personalized options for recall function. Seat should move to all memorized positions. If seat operates as specified, system is operating properly.
