Selector Lever Cable, Bringing Into Basic Setting

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Procedure

Selector lever position comparison with position on Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- :

-- Compare the display in field -1- to the position on selector lever with the selector lever Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26- on the selector mechanism and the Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster.

If the displays do not match:

-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

If the individual displays cannot be reached by adjusting the selector lever cable:

Selector Lever Cable, Bringing Into Basic Setting:

-- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot -1- -arrows-.

-- Move the selector lever into "D".

-- Loosen the screw on the selector lever cable through the opening -arrow- in the selector mechanism one turn using the Socket And KeyT40031.

NOTE:

Only loosen the clamping screw - do not remove it.

The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "D".

The selector lever must remain in "D" when the clamping screw is loose.

-- Remove the noise insulation, refer to NOISE INSULATION OVERVIEW .

-- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt -1-.

-- Remove the ball heads -A- on the selector lever cable from the selector lever using the Pry Lever80-200.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

-- Press the selector shaft lever -A- on the transmission all the way back -arrow- until the parking lock engages.

NOTE:

When parking lock is engaged, it must not be possible to turn the front wheels.

-- Then press transmission selector lever forward three detents so transmission is in "D".

-- Make sure the selector lever is also in "D".

-- Compare the display in field -1- to the position on selector lever with the selector lever Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26- on the selector mechanism and the Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Lubricate the cable eye and the ball socket on the selector lever cable with Polycarbamide GreaseG 052 142 A2 before installing.

-- Carefully install the selector lever cable ball socket -5- in this position onto the selector shaft lever -7-.

NOTE:

Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.

-- Attach the cable bracket -4- to the console.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .
