Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Socket And KeyT40031
Procedure
-- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot -1- -arrows-.
-- Move the selector lever into "D".
-- Loosen the screw on the selector lever cable through the opening -arrow- in the selector mechanism one turn using the Socket And KeyT40031.
Loosen the clamping screw approximately one turn but do not remove it.
The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "D".
The selector lever must remain in "D" when the clamping screw is loose.
-- Carefully move the selector forward and back gently without shifting into another selector lever position. This releases the tension in the selector lever cable.
-- Check exact position of selector lever in position "D" by pushing selector lever lightly towards driver seat.
Do not touch the selector lever during the adjusting.
-- Without touching selector lever, tighten clamping screw in this position using Socket And KeyT40031. For the tightening specification, refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .
Using a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester you can compare the setting of the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- with the setting in the selector lever.
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester connected, OBD, Vehicle System 02 - Transmission Electronics , Measured Values , Display Group 2 selected.
-- Compare the display in field -1- to the position on the selector lever.
If shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting selector lever cable:
-- Bring the selector lever cable into the basic setting, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, BRINGING INTO BASIC SETTING .
