Fuel Pump: Removal

  1. Drain fuel tank. See DRAINING FUEL TANK .
  2. Move front seats as far forward as possible. Fold rear seat forward. Pull carpet forward. Remove screws from fuel pump cover and remove cover. See Fig 1.
CAUTION: Reinstall cap nut into fuel tank immediately after removing fuel pump. Otherwise threads may distort and cause problems when reinstalling.
  3. Mark each fuel line before disconnecting. Disconnect connector (marked A) and release fuel lines by pressing in on catches. Wipe up all spilled fuel immediately. Use Cap Nut Wrench (999-5622) or equivalent wrench to remove fuel pump cap nut. See Fig 2.
  4. Check fuel pump gasket and replace if torn or visibly distorted.
