Cruise Control Main Switch Test (Response Code 113)
- Response Code 113 is obtained when cruise control main switch is switched from OFF to ON, ON to OFF or if brake pedal is depressed while cruise control main switch is set to ON position. If code is obtained, go to RESUME Switch Check (Response Code 123) . If code cannot be obtained in any position, check for other response codes. If Code 123, 131 or 213 is present, go to step 3. If Codes 123, 131 or 213 are not present, go to next step.
- Check cruise control fuse No. 19 located in fuse box on left side of instrument panel. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, remove upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect cruise control switch connector. Turn ignition on. Connect voltmeter between cruise control switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is not present, check wiring between fuse box and cruise control switch. If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Reconnect cruise control switch connector, if disconnected. Connect voltmeter (backprobe) between cruise control switch connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See Fig 1. Put cruise control main switch in ON position. If battery voltage is not present, replace cruise control switch. If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Disconnect brake valve connector. Turn ignition on, cruise control main switch off. Check voltage between ground and brake valve connector White/Black wire. If no voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is present, repair short to voltage in White/Black wire between brake valve and cruise control switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect cruise control switch connector. Measure resistance of White/Black wire between brake valve connector and cruise control switch connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is about zero ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than zero ohms, repair open White/Black wire.
- Measure resistance between brake valve terminals. Infinite resistance should exist with brake pedal depressed and zero ohms should exist with brake pedal released. If resistance is as described, go to step 8. If resistance is not as described, adjust brake valve and retest. See BRAKE VALVE ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS. If brake valve will not adjust, replace brake valve. If brake valve is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Connect any disconnected components. Remove cruise control unit. Turn ignition on. Connect voltmeter between ground and cruise control unit base terminal 9E. See Figure. Zero volts should be present with cruise control main switch off, and battery voltage should be present with cruise control main switch on. If voltage is as described, go to next step. If voltage is not as described, repair wiring between brake valve and cruise control unit terminal 9E. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Remove cruise control unit. Disconnect brake valve connector. Measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between brake valve and cruise control unit terminal 9E. If resistance is about zero ohms, check connectors for intermittent connection and retest. If resistance is more than zero ohms, repair open Orange/Black wire.
