Test No. 9
- Check Voltage At Trunk Key Lock & Unlock Switch
Remove trim panel from trunk for access to trunk key lock and unlock switch located on inside of trunk lid. See Figure.
- Connect voltmeter between ground and terminal No. 2 (Green/White wire) on electrical connector at trunk key lock and unlock switch. Turn ignition on. Note voltage when key is not turned, and then when key is turned to unlock position. Battery voltage should exist when key is not turned. No voltage should exist when key is turned to unlock position. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step 4.
- Replace Anti-Theft System Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
Replace anti-theft system ECU. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ECU under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check system operation. If anti-theft system still cannot be set, go to next test listed. See TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Check Trunk Key Lock & Unlock Switch
Check trunk key lock and unlock switch operation. See TRUNK KEY LOCK & UNLOCK SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If trunk key lock and unlock switch operates properly, go to next step. Replace trunk key lock and unlock switch if defective.
- Check Trunk Key Lock & Unlock Switch Wiring
Check for defective connectors and Green/White wire between trunk key lock and unlock switch and anti-theft system ECU, and for defective connectors and White/Black wire between trunk key lock and unlock switch and body ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Anti-theft system ECU is located near passenger's side of instrument panel, behind glove box, just above kick panel and uses a 12-pin electrical connector and a 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure.
- If connectors and wiring are okay, replace anti-theft system ECU. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ECU under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check system operation. If anti-theft system still cannot be set, go to next test listed. See TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
