Steering Angle Sensor Removal and Installation: Removal
CAUTION:
When removing the steering angle sensor, make sure of the following to avoid malfunction of steering angle sensor.
- Park vehicle on level site and apply parking brake, stop engine with ignition mode in "ON" and set steering wheel in straight-ahead position.
- Fix the steering angle sensor so that it does not rotate.
- Before removal, make sure of the following:
- Vehicle is placed on level ground.
- Parking brake is applied.
- Engine stops and ignition mode is in "ON".
- Steering wheel is in straight-ahead position.
- Remove steering wheel, see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove lighting switch and wiper & washer switch.
- Remove screws and claws and remove whole unit of steering angle sensor from steering column, see STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN COMPONENTS .
- Perform contact coil centering, see CENTERING OF CONTACT COIL CABLE ASSEMBLY .
- Remove screws (1) and steering angle sensor (2) from contact coil cable assembly bracket (3).
