Steering Angle Sensor Removal and Installation: Removal

CAUTION: When removing the steering angle sensor, make sure of the following to avoid malfunction of steering angle sensor.
  • Park vehicle on level site and apply parking brake, stop engine with ignition mode in "ON" and set steering wheel in straight-ahead position.
  • Fix the steering angle sensor so that it does not rotate.
  1. Before removal, make sure of the following:
    • Vehicle is placed on level ground.
    • Parking brake is applied.
    • Engine stops and ignition mode is in "ON".
    • Steering wheel is in straight-ahead position.
  2. Remove steering wheel, see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove lighting switch and wiper & washer switch.
  4. Remove screws and claws and remove whole unit of steering angle sensor from steering column, see STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN COMPONENTS .
  5. Perform contact coil centering, see CENTERING OF CONTACT COIL CABLE ASSEMBLY .
  6. Remove screws (1) and steering angle sensor (2) from contact coil cable assembly bracket (3).
