Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP): Installation

1. Install NEW "O" ring on CMP sensor and coat with engine oil. Install CMP sensor while aligning drive coupling into slot of camshaft. See Fig 1. CMP sensor drive coupling and camshaft slot are offset. If CMP sensor coupling does not fit into slot, turn CMP sensor shaft 180 degrees.
2. Tighten CMP sensor bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Reconnect CMP sensor harness connectors. Adjust ignition timing to specification. See ADJUSTMENTS - 1.8L article.
