No. 2 Brake Cylinder: Installation
- Install the planetary sun gear and the center planetary gear to the transmission case.
- Use vaseline to attach the No. 4 thrust bearing race.NOTE: Make sure to install the No. 4 thrust bearing race in the right direction.
- Install the thrust needle roller bearing.NOTE: Make sure to install the thrust needle roller bearing in the right direction.
(A) Oil pump side (B) Thrust needle roller bearing (C) No. 4 thrust bearing race (D) Center planetary gear (E) Planetary sun gear (F) Transmission case - Install the No. 2 brake cylinder.NOTE: Make sure to install the No. 2 brake cylinder in the right direction.
- Check that the oil pressure apply hole of the No. 2 brake cylinder matches the oil pressure apply hole (A) of the transmission case.
- Install the No. 2 front brake flange, No. 2 brake discs, No. 2 brake plates, No. 2 rear brake flange, and No. 2 brake piston return spring.NOTE: When replacing with new No. 2 brake discs, soak them in the ATF for 15 minutes.
(A) No. 2 front brake flange (B) No. 2 brake disc (C) No. 2 brake plate (D) No. 2 rear brake flange (E) No. 2 brake piston return spring (F) Transmission case - Using the ST1, ST2, and ST3, compress the No. 2 brake piston return spring.CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the transmission case with the ST1 and ST2.
Preparation tool:
ST1: compressor special tool (18762AA020)
ST2: OIL PUMP PULLER (09350-07020)
ST3: PIPE (09351-04010)
- Using a flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protection tape, install the snap ring.
- Check the operation of the No. 2 brake piston.
- Blow compressed air through the hole shown in the figure, and check that the No. 2 brake piston moves smoothly when the pressure is released.NOTE: Blow compressed air of 392 kPa (4.0 kgf/cm2 , 56.8 psi).
- Perform the following check if the piston does not move smoothly.
- Check that the oil pressure apply hole of the No. 2 brake cylinder matches the oil pressure apply hole of the transmission case.
- Check the installation of the No. 2 front brake flange, No. 2 brake discs, No. 2 brake plates, No. 2 rear brake flange, and No. 2 brake piston return spring.
- Check the installation of the No. 2 brake cylinder and the No. 2 brake piston.
- Blow compressed air through the hole shown in the figure, and check that the No. 2 brake piston moves smoothly when the pressure is released.
- Check the piston stroke of No. 2 brake piston.
- Set the ST, dial gauge (spindle type), and magnet stand.
Preparation tool:
ST: TERMINAL NO. 2 MAJOR (09350-06120)
- Measure the piston stroke of the No. 2 brake piston when blowing compressed air through the hole shown in the figure.NOTE:
- Blow compressed air of 392 kPa (4.0 kgf/cm2 , 56.8 psi).
- Measure at four points at 90° intervals and calculate the average.
Specification:
0.6 - 0.9 mm (0.02 - 0.04 in)
- When the value exceeds the specification, adjust the thickness of the No. 2 rear brake flange (A) based on the thickness of the No. 2 rear brake flange recorded in the removal step 5. (2) so that the value is within the initial standard, and measure the piston stroke of the No. 2 brake piston again.
Initial standard:
0.6 - 0.9 mm (0.02 - 0.04 in)
- Set the ST, dial gauge (spindle type), and magnet stand.
- Install the No. 1 brake cylinder. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>NO. 1 BRAKE CYLINDER>INSTALLATION .
