NOTE:
When replacing a single part, perform the work with the engine assembly installed to body.
- When working on the vehicleNOTE: When working on the vehicle, perform the following steps also.
- Remove the striker - front hood. Refer to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>DISASSEMBLY .
- Fully open the front hood. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>FRONT HOOD STAY .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the V-belt covers. (Except for hybrid model)
- Remove the collector cover. (Hybrid model) Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the clip from the air intake boot, and loosen the clamp.
- Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.
- Remove the air cleaner case. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR CLEANER CASE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the clip (A) securing the harness to the inverter front water pipe, and remove the inverter center water pipe inlet hose and the inverter center water pipe outlet hose from the clamp (B). (Hybrid model)
- Remove the bolt securing the inverter front water pipe to the vehicle. (Hybrid model)
- Remove the clip (C) securing the pipe - evaporator cooling to the bracket, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with work. (Hybrid model)
- Remove the pitching stopper. (CVT model)
Except for hybrid model:
Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
Hybrid model:
Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
- Remove the pitching stopper. (MT model)
5MT model:
Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (5MT)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
6MT model:

- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the front crossmember. (CVT model)
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the crossmember. (MT model)
- Lower the vehicle.
- Using the ST1, install the ST2 to the engine unit. (Except for hybrid model)
Preparation tool:
ST1: BOLT (18363AA050)
ST2: HANGER (18360AA040)
Tightening torque:
43 N.m (4.4 kgf-m, 31.7 ft-lb)
- Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
- While gradually lifting up the engine, set the ST between the engine mount RH and front crossmember, and then slowly lower the engine.CAUTION:
- When lifting up the engine, pay attention to the clearance of each part and be careful not to lift the engine too much, in order to prevent damaging the vehicle.
- To avoid damaging the ST, be sure to set the ST as shown in the figure.
- After lowering the engine, rock the engine to check that the ST does not come off.
Preparation tool:
ST: STAND ASSY (18632AA030)
- Remove the lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the #1 ignition coil and the #3 ignition coil. Refer to IGNITION (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>IGNITION COIL>REMOVAL .
- Remove the rocker cover RH.
- Remove the rocker cover gasket (ring type) and the spark plug pipe gasket, and remove the liquid gasket.CAUTION:
- When removing the liquid gasket from engine unit using scraper, use special care not to damage the cam lobe of camshaft RH.
- If the cam lobe of camshaft RH interferes, turn the crankshaft to the position where the scraper does not touch.
- Remove the rocker cover gasket RH from the rocker cover RH, and remove the liquid gasket.
