Drive Pinion Shaft: Installation

  1. Assemble the drive pinion assembly to the oil pump housing.
    NOTE:
    • Pay attention not to bend the shim.
    • Pay attention not to press the pinion into housing bore.

    Tightening torque: 

    40 N.m (4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lb)

  2. Combine the torque converter case with the transmission case. < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  3. Install the reduction driven gear.

  4. Install the reduction drive gear. (MPT model) < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  5. Install the center differential carrier. (VTD model) < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  6. Combine the extension case with the transmission case, and install vehicle speed sensor 1 (rear). < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  7. Insert inhibitor switch and transmission connector into stay.
  8. Install the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes. < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  9. Install the oil charger pipe with O-ring.
  10. Insert the input shaft while turning lightly by hand and verify the protrusion amount.

    Normal protrusion A: 

    50 - 55 mm (1.97 - 2.17 in)

  11. Install the torque converter clutch assembly. < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
  12. Install the transmission assembly to vehicle. < Ref. to , INSTALLATION . >
