Subaru Select Monitor

  1. Using Subaru Select Monitor.
    • Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor (SSM) by connecting the diagnosis cable and inserting the proper cartridge into the SSM.
    • Connect the SSM to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located in the lower portion of the instrument panel, on the drivers side. See Figure .
    • Turn ignition ON, engine OFF. Turn SSM on and call up Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and various data. Record all information.
  2. Read DTC for ENGINE (Normal Mode). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
  3. Read DTC for ENGINE (OBD Mode). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
  4. Read current data for engine (Normal Mode).
    • On the MAIN MENU display screen, select EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press the YES key.
    • On the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press YES key.
    • Press the YES key after the engine type information is displayed.
    • On the ENGINE DIAGNOSIS display screen, select CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE and press the YES key.
    • On the DATA DISPLAY MENU display screen, select DATA DISPLAY and press the YES key.
    • Using the scroll key, move the display screen up or down until the desired data is shown.
  5. Read current data for engine (OBD Mode).
    • On the MAIN MENU display screen, select EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press the YES key.
    • On the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • Press the YES key after the engine type information is displayed.
    • On the ENGINE DIAGNOSIS display screen, select OBD SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • On the OBD MENU display screen, select CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE and press the YES key.
    • On the DATA DISPLAY MENU display screen, select DATA DISPLAY and press the YES key.
    • Using the scroll key, move the display screen up or down until the desired data is shown.
  6. Read freeze frame data for engine (OBD Mode).
    • On the MAIN MENU display screen, select EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press the YES key.
    • On the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • Press the YES key after the engine type information is displayed.
    • On the ENGINE DIAGNOSIS display screen, select OBD SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • On the OBD MENU display screen, select FREEZE FRAME DATA and press the YES key.
  7. LED operation mode for engine.
    • On the MAIN MENU display screen, select EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press the YES key.
    • On the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • Press the YES key after the engine type information is displayed.
    • On the ENGINE DIAGNOSIS display screen, select CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE and press the YES key.
    • On the DATA DISPLAY MENU display screen, select DATA & LED DISPLAY and press the YES key.
    • Using the scroll key, move the display screen up or down until the desired data is shown.
  8. Read current data for automatic transmission.
    • On the MAIN MENU display screen, select EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press the YES key.
    • On the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press the YES key.
    • Press the YES key after the engine type information is displayed.
    • On the TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS display screen, select CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE and press the YES key.
    • On the DATA DISPLAY MENU display screen, select DATA DISPLAY and press the YES key.
    • Using the scroll key, move the display screen up or down until the desired data is shown.
