Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If the steering column or power steering ECU has been replaced, perform the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).
  3. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once. A
      Normal system code is output. B

    B : END 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  5. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again (See CALIBRATION  ).
  6. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration twice. A
      Normal system code is output. B

    B : END 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  8. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again (See CALIBRATION  ).
  9. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. A
      Normal system code is output. B

      HINT:

      Replace the power steering ECU if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

    B : END 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU 
    1. Replace the power steering ECU (See REMOVAL  ).
  11. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  12. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).
  13. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once. A
      Normal system code is output. B

  14. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  15. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again (See CALIBRATION  ).
  16. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

  17. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
  18. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again (See CALIBRATION  ).
  19. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result

      HINT:

      Replace the steering column if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

      NOTE: If replacing the steering column, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).

    B : END 

    A : REPLACE STEERING COLUMN  (See REMOVAL )
