Exhaust Pipe: Installation
- INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT
- Install the 5 exhaust pipe supports to the body.
- INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
- Check the free length.
- Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length: 40.5 mm (1.594 in.)
If the free length is less than minimum, replace the compression spring.
- Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
- Using a wooden block and plastic-faced hammer, tap a new gasket until it is flush with the exhaust manifold.NOTE:
- Make sure that the gasket is in the correct direction when installing.
- Do not reuse a removed gasket.
- Never push the gasket into the exhaust manifold by installing the front exhaust pipe onto the exhaust manifold.
- Install the front exhaust pipe with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
- Check the free length.
- INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
- Install a new gasket onto the front exhaust pipe.
- Install the exhaust pipe center onto the 2 exhaust pipe supports.
- Install the 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
- Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum free length: 38.5 mm (1.516 in.)
If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.
- Using a wooden block and plastic-faced hammer, tap a new gasket until it is flush with the center exhaust pipe.NOTE:
- Make sure that the gasket is in the correct direction when installing.
- Do not reuse a removed gasket.
- Never push the gasket onto the exhaust pipe center by installing the exhaust pipe tail onto the exhaust pipe center.
- Install the tailpipe to the 3 exhaust pipe supports.
- Install the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
- Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
- INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) (See INSTALLATION )
- CONNECT CABLE TO BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
- INSTALL FRONT FLOOR PANEL BRACE
- Install the front floor panel brace with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 29.6 N*m (300 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)
NOTE: Make sure that the front floor panel brace is at the correct direction when installing.
- Install the front floor panel brace with the 4 bolts.
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION
- Perform initialization (see
INITIALIZATION
).NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Perform initialization (see
INITIALIZATION
