DTC P1263: Throttle Moved Manually While Engine Running
NOTE:
This code may be set if throttle was opened manually using throttle arm while engine was running. If necessary to increase throttle from under hood, use pedal arm instead to prevent DTC from setting. See Figure.
- Connect TECH 2 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Use scan tool to read stored DTCs. If DTC P1251 is stored in ECM, go to DTC P1251, P1252 & P1253: THROTTLE MOTOR FULL PULSE-WIDTH MODULATION MALFUNCTION . If DTC P1251 is not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds, then move pedal arm and note whether throttle arm follows its movement. If it does, go to next step. If throttle arm does not follow pedal arm movement, use scan tool to clear DTCs and retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Use scan tool to clear T-7 Trionic Engine Management System DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Reset limp-home mechanism. See RESETTING LIMP-HOME SOLENOID under TESTING & REPAIR PROCEDURE. Use scan tool to clear all system DTCs. Drive vehicle for 5 minutes under varying loads and engine RPM. Recheck for any stored DTCs. If DTC P1263 is present, substitute known good ECM and retest system. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
