Information Center Test 3A - Red Brake Warning Light Malfunction

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. If vehicle is equipped with ABS, see ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM article in BRAKES Section. On non-ABS vehicles, ensure parking brake pedal is fully released. If parking brake will not release, repair as needed. Turn ignition on. If brake warning light is illuminated, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 3B  . If brake warning light is not illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Crank engine and observe brake warning light. If brake warning light does not illuminate, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 3C  . If brake warning light illuminates, go to next step.
  3. Apply parking brake. If brake warning light does not illuminate, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 3D  . If brake warning light illuminates, go to next step.
  4. Release parking brake. Proceed to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 3E  to diagnose warning light not illuminating when brake fluid reservoir is low or empty.
