Shift Tube Assembly

  1. Visually inspect shift tube for sheared injected plastic (See Figure View "C", View "E" On J and N bodies). If shift tube shows sheared plastic, a new shift tube must be installed.
  2. Check shift lever operation. If lever can be moved to PARK position without raising the lever, this is an indication that upper shift tube plastic bearing is broken.
