Test C: Single Power Mirror Does Not Function With Switch Logic

NOTE: Wire color changes between power mirror adjust switch power mirrors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. Remove power mirror adjust switch. Test power mirror adjust switch. See POWER MIRROR ADJUST SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to appropriate step. See TEST STEP DIRECTORY  table. If switch is defective, replace power mirror adjust switch.
    TEST STEP DIRECTORY

    Malfunction Go To Step
    Driver's Power Mirror
    Up/Down  2
    Right/Left  6
    Passenger's Power Mirror
    Up/Down  10
    Right/Left  14
  2. Install power mirror adjust switch. Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect driver's power mirror 5-pin harness connector C807. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place power mirror adjust switch in driver's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 4 (White/Red wire) while operating power mirror adjust switch in up and down positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposing polarities, replace driver's power mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow wire or White/Red wire. If less than 10 volts exists in either position, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect power mirror adjust switch 8-pin harness connector C740. Measure resistance of White/Red wire between power mirror adjust switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 2 and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in White/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Measure resistance between power mirror adjust switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire or Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). Measure voltage between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step  2 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Install power mirror adjust switch. Disconnect driver's power mirror 5-pin harness connector C807. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place power mirror adjust switch in driver's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (White/Blue wire) while operating power mirror adjust switch in right and left positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposing polarities, replace driver's power mirror. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow wire or White/Blue wire. If less than 10 volts exists in either position, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect power mirror adjust switch 8-pin harness connector C740. Measure resistance of White/Blue wire between power mirror adjust switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 5 and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 5. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in White/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. Measure resistance between power mirror adjust switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Red/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  9. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). Measure voltage between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 5 (White/Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step  6 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  10. Install power mirror adjust switch. Remove passenger's door trim panel. Disconnect passenger's power mirror 5-pin harness connector C71. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place power mirror adjust switch in passenger's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between passenger's power mirror harness connector C71 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 4 (White wire) while operating power mirror adjust switch in up and down positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposing polarities, replace passenger's power mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow wire or White wire. If less than 10 volts exists in either position, go to next step.
  11. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between power mirror adjust switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) and passenger's power mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 4 (White wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in White/Black wire or White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
