Fuel Shutoff Due To Ignition Failure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

To protect catalyst from overheating from unburned fuel, EZL/AKR ignition control unit detects ignition failures and transmits failure to LH control unit through Controller Area Network (CAN). The LH control unit turns off an affected cylinders fuel injector, or all fuel injectors of an affected ignition circuit.
