Fuel-Filler Lid Lock Actuator Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:
  • Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. If fuel comes into contact with the skin and eyes it will cause irritation. To prevent this, always perform the "Fuel Line Safety Procedure" referring to the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE".
  • A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before draining fuel, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching a vehicle.
  1. Level the vehicle.
  2. Complete the "BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION". (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION (VIN Y) .) (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION (VIN M) .)
  3. Drain the fuel. (See FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE (VIN Y) .) (See FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE (VIN M) .)
  4. Open the fuel-filler lid.
    NOTE:
    • If the fuel-filler lid cannot be opened due to a discharged battery or malfunctions in the electrical system, open the fuel-filler lid referring to the [FUEL-FILLER LID LOCK ACTUATOR MANUAL RELEASE PROCEDURE]. (See FUEL-FILLER LID LOCK ACTUATOR MANUAL RELEASE PROCEDURE .)
  5. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  6. Remove the following parts:
    1. Rear tire (LH) (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear mudguard (LH) (See REAR MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Fuel-filler pipe (See FUEL-FILLER PIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .) (See FUEL-FILLER PIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
    4. Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Trunk side upper trim (LH) (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Open the cargo net hook cover and remove the bolt.

  8. Remove the cargo net hooks.
  9. Remove the fasteners.

  10. Move the trunk side trim (LH) in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure while detaching the clip.

  11. Partially peel the trunk side trim (LH).

  12. Remove the trunk side insulator (LH). (See TRUNK SIDE INSULATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  13. Disconnect the connector.

  14. Remove the clips A and B.

  15. Apply protective tape to the location shown in the figure to prevent scratches or damage.

  16. Remove the grommet.
  17. Mark the position 10 mm {0.39 in} from the tip of the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

  18. Insert the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver it to the marked position.

  19. Move a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, pull the fuel-filler lid box in the direction of arrow (2) while pressing the fuel-filler lid box tab, and detach the fuel-filler lid box from the body.

  20. Insert the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver it to the marked position.

  21. Move a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, pull the fuel-filler lid box in the direction of arrow (2) while pressing the fuel-filler lid box tab, and detach the fuel-filler lid box from the body.

  22. Move the fuel-filler lid box in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the fuel-filler lid box tab from the body.

  23. Move the fuel-filler lid box in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and remove it while pulling out the short cord and the fuel-filler lid opener cable.

  24. Remove the clip.

  25. Disconnect the connector.
  26. Disconnect the fuel-filler lid opener cable.
  27. Remove the screws.

  28. Remove the fuel-filler lid lock actuator.
  29. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  30. Complete the "AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION". (See AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION (VIN Y) .) (See AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION (VIN M) .)
