Steering Shift Switch Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION ).
2. Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Removal [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Installation [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ).
3. Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

4. Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER Removal/Installation ).
5. Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.

6. Measure the continuity between steering shift switch wiring harness connector terminals A-B and terminals D-E.

Up switch

• If there is any malfunction, replace the steering shift switch. (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
