Steering Shift Switch Removal/Installation

WARNING:

Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system services and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICES [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION ).
Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Removal [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Installation [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Removal [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ). (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Installation [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] ).
Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN Removal/Installation ).
Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

Remove the screw.

Disconnect the steering shift switch connector.

Release the tab shown in the figure and remove the steering shift switch.

Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.

Remove the steering wheel cover. (See STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal/Installation ).
Remove the steering shift switch wiring harness from the steering wheel cover.

Install in the reverse order of Removal.
