Power Take Off Unit Inner HALFSHAFT Seal: Installation

Using the special tool, install the inner halfshaft seal.

Install the three gears.
1. Install the drive gear.
2. Install the idler gear.
3. Install the driven gear.

CAUTION:

The Power Take Off (PTO) unit cover must be installed within 15 minutes of applying the silicone sealant. If the time limit is exceeded, clean the sealing surfaces and reapply.

NOTE:

Apply a 1/8-inch bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the sealing surface of the Power Take Off (PTO) unit cover before installing on the Power Take Off (PTO) unit.

Install the Power Take Off (PTO) unit cover.
- Install the bolts in a cross pattern.

Install a new dust shield.

Install the Power Take Off (PTO) unit vent tube.
- Install the bolts.
Install the Power Take Off (PTO) unit. Refer to POWER TAKE OFF UNIT - 3.0L DURATEC (4V) , or POWER TAKE OFF UNIT - 2.0L ZETEC .
Fill the Power Take Off (PTO) unit. Refer to POWER TAKE OFF UNIT DRAINING AND FILLING .
Check the transaxle fluid level. Refer to DRAINING & REFILLING .
