Test C: Single Mirror Inoperative

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DTC B1541 does not exist, go to next step. If DTC B1541 exists, go to step  4 .
  2. Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Seat Module (DSM) self-test. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test or appropriate step. See DTC TEST PROCEDURE  table.

    (1) DTCs B1663, B1664, B1665 and B1666 may also be present.
  3. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PIDs MIR_SEL, MIRV_SW and MIRH_SW. Select appropriate mirror on mirror control switch. Move mirror control switch through all positions. If PID does not agree with mirror control switch position, go to next step. If PID agrees with mirror control switch position, go to step  9 .
  4. Disconnect mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C550. Measure voltage between ground and mirror control switch harness connector C550 terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire). If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Black/White wire.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and mirror control switch harness connector C550 terminal No. 5 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire.
  6. Disconnect DDM 16-pin harness connector C506. Measure resistance in wires between mirror control switch harness connector C550 and DDM harness connector C506. See MIRROR CONTROL RESISTANCE  table. If all resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If any resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.
    MIRROR CONTROL RESISTANCE

  7. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and appropriate terminals at driver's mirror control switch harness connector C550. See MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUIT  table. If voltage does not exist at any terminal, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire.
    MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUIT

  8. Test mirror control switch. See MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If mirror control switch is okay, replace DDM. If mirror control switch is defective, replace mirror control switch.
  9. Place transmission in Park. Using NGS tester, select DSM active command POWER MIRROR CONTROL. Using NGS tester, operate both mirrors in all directions. If both mirrors respond correctly, system is okay at this time. If driver's mirror did not respond correctly, go to next step. If passenger's mirror did not respond correctly, go to step  14 .
  10. Disconnect driver's mirror 10-pin harness connector C515. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire), No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire), No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, go to step  13 .
  11. Disconnect DSM 26-pin harness connector C342. Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire), No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire), No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If all resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate wire.
  12. Measure resistance in wires between driver's mirror harness connector C515 and appropriate terminals at DSM harness connector C342. See MIRROR DRIVER'S RESISTANCE  table. If all resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, go to step  18 . If any resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.
    MIRROR DRIVER'S RESISTANCE

  13. Disconnect DSM 26-pin harness connector C342. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire), No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire), No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, replace DSM. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire.
  14. Disconnect passenger's mirror 10-pin harness connector C606. Measure voltage between ground and passenger's mirror harness connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire), No. 4 (Dark Green wire), No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and No. 6 (Violet wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, go to step  17 .
  15. Disconnect DSM 26-pin harness connector C342. Measure resistance between ground and passenger's mirror harness connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire), No. 4 (Dark Green wire), No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and No. 6 (Violet wire). If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate wire.
  16. Measure resistance in wires between passenger's mirror harness connector C606 and DSM harness connector C342 as specified. See PASSENGER'S MIRROR RESISTANCE  table. If all resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, go to step  21 . If any resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.
    PASSENGER'S MIRROR RESISTANCE

  17. Disconnect DSM harness connector C342. Measure voltage between ground and passenger's mirror harness connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire), No. 4 (Dark Green wire), No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and No. 6 (Violet wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, replace DSM. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire.
  18. Disconnect driver's mirror 10-pin harness connector C515. Measure resistance between driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire). Measure resistance between driver's mirror connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance readings are 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step  24 .
  19. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire), No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire), No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, go to step  24 . If voltage exists at any terminal, go to next step.
  20. Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminals No. 3 (Red wire), No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire), No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Dark Blue wire). If all resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DSM. If any resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, go to step  24 .
  21. Disconnect passenger's mirror 10-pin harness connector C606. Measure resistance between passenger's mirror connector C606 terminals No. 6 (Violet wire) and No. 5 (White/Violet wire). Measure resistance between passenger's mirror connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire) and No. 4 (Dark Green wire). If resistance readings are 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step  25 .
  22. Measure voltage between ground and passenger's mirror harness connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire), No. 4 (Dark Green wire), No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and No. 6 (Violet wire). If voltage does not exist at any terminal, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, go to step  25 .
  23. Measure resistance between ground and passenger's mirror harness connector C606 terminals No. 3 (White/Light Green wire), No. 4 (Dark Green wire), No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and No. 6 (Violet wire). If all resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace DSM. If any resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, go to step  25 .
  24. Remove driver's mirror assembly. Inspect mirror wiring. If wiring is damaged, repair as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace driver's mirror assembly.
  25. Remove passenger's mirror assembly. Inspect mirror wiring. If wiring is damaged, repair as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace passenger's mirror assembly.
