Auto Test

NOTE: DO NOT lean on vehicle or open doors during auto test. Doing so will introduce false codes into test.
  1. Open the hood. Locate the air suspension/EVO steering test connector on the right front shock tower. See Figure . Install a battery charger to power the vehicle during testing.
  2. Open the luggage compartment door.
  3. Connect the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, or equivalent aftermarket scan tool, to the air suspension/EVO steering test connector. Select the AIR SUSPENSION AUTO TEST for the Mark VIII from the menu.
  4. Make sure both the doors are closed.
  5. Turn the air suspension switch to OFF then to ON.
  6. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
  7. Press the trigger button to begin the Auto Test.
  8. CAUTION: Do not lean on vehicle or open doors while DTC 10 is displayed. This will introduce false errors into the test results.
  9. DTC 10 is displayed while the Auto Test is running. Any faults discovered by the Auto Test will halt the test and the DTCs will be displayed.
  10. When DTC 12 is displayed, open the driver door. Turn the steering wheel a minimum of 1/4 turn in both directions. Exit the vehicle and close the driver door. Open then close the passenger door. Press trigger to continue the test.
  11. Read the displayed DTCs. DTC 11 means the vehicle has passed the Auto Test. Other DTCs retrieved indicate the faults that must be repaired. See RETRIEVING CODES (or DTCS)  .
  12. If the vehicle passes the Auto Test, exit diagnostics by turning the ignition switch to OFF and disconnecting the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester or scan tool.
