Function Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Locate air suspension service switch on left side of trunk. Turn air suspension off. Connect battery charger to vehicle during testing as compressor operation may deplete battery power.
  2. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to diagnostic connector located on the front of right front shock tower. Ensure both doors are closed. Turn air suspension on.
  3. Turn ignition on. Select FUNCTION TEST from NGS tester menu. Codes for various Function Tests will be displayed on NGS tester menu. See NGS FUNCTION TEST INDEX  table for function test description.
  4. Select and perform function test 211. Record displayed DTCs. Perform function test 228 to clear air suspension/EVO control module memory. Scroll through NGS tester menu to desired test and press trigger on NGS tester to begin test.
