Control Panel Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1992 Lincoln Continental. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Control panel consists of 11 push buttons, a variable blower speed knob for manual selection, a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) to show set temperature, ambient temperature, diagnostic codes and air discharge/function selection.

When system is operating under automatic control, display shows preferred or target temperature to which the elements of the control system respond. Blower speed varies in response to ambient temperature changes and a predetermined delay factor.

Set temperature can be raised or lowered in one degree increments between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Control panel features include a 60°F (16°C) setting for maximum cooling and a 90°F (32°C) setting for maximum heating. See Fig 1 .
