Choke Diaphragm Run Position (Cold Engine)

  1. Depress choke diaphragm rod until diaphragm bottoms out. Rotate choke thermostat lever clockwise until choke shaft lever pin contacts fast idle intermediate lever. Dial indicator reading should be .350" (8.89 mm) at 0°F (18°C). See Fig 1 .

  2. If reading is not to specification, remove choke diaphragm cover and install a new cover. Adjust reading by turning screw with a 5/64" Allen wrench. Turn screw clockwise to increase reading or counterclockwise to decrease. Apply Loctite on screw to secure adjustment. Install lead ball plug over adjustment screw.
