Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
    1. Delete the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Recheck for DTC.

      Result

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      B1243 output reoccurs A
B1243 output does not reoccur B

B: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - MAIN BODY ECU)
    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
    2. Disconnect the L73 sensor connector.
    3. Disconnect the DA ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - MAIN BODY ECU

      Tester Condition Condition Specified Condition
      L73-18 (GSW) - DA-53 (GSW) Always Below 1 Ω
DA-53 (GSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

  3. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (GSW VOLTAGE)
    2. Reconnect the L73 sensor connector.

    3. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      MAIN BODY ECU (GSW VOLTAGE)

Tester Condition Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L73-18 (GSW)-Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

  4. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR
    2. Replace the center airbag sensor (see REMOVAL ).
  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
    1. Delete the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Recheck for DTC.
