Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Installation

  1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY 
    1. Engage the claw and install the instrument panel stay.

  2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CLIP 
    1. Engage the claw and install the 4 instrument panel clips.

  3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 5 claws.
      NOTE: Do not allow the wire harness to get caught in the claws.
    2. Engage the 2 clamps.
    3. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts < A >.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Install the 6 bolts < D > and nut < H >.

    5. Engage the 2 claws and install the cooler thermistor.
    6. Engage the clamps.
    7. Connect the connectors and install the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

  4. CONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  5. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT (for Manual Transmission) 
    1. Install the No. 2 console box duct with the clip.

  6. INSTALL NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT (for Automatic Transmission) 
    1. Install the No. 1 console box duct with the clip.

  7. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT (for Automatic Transmission) 
    1. Install the No. 2 console box duct with the 2 clips.

  8. INSTALL FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (w/ Front Center Speaker) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  9. INSTALL NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 7 claws and install the No. 3 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.

  10. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Engage the 4 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly.

  11. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Engage the 7 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

  12. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (See Step 84 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  13. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
  14. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 2 claws.
    3. Install the glove compartment door assembly with the 5 screws.

  15. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  16. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 4 clips and install the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

  17. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL RH 
    1. Engage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and then install the side instrument panel RH.

  18. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 
    1. Engage the 6 claws and install the front door opening trim cover RH.

  19. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (w/o Illumination) 
  20. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (w/ Illumination) 
  21. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 2 claws and install the combination meter assembly.

  22. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly with the 2 screws and 2 clips.

  23. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  24. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 7 clips and install the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  25. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Insert the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly into the guide as shown in Fig 18 .
    3. Engage the 2 claws.
    4. Install the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly with the 2 screws < E >.

  26. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH 
    1. Engage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and then install the side instrument panel LH.

  27. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH 
    1. Engage the 6 claws and install the front door opening trim cover LH.

  31. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Telescopic) (See Step 7 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  32. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  33. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  INSPECTION  ) 
  34. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See Step 9 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  35. INSTALL STEERING PAD (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  36. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER (See Step 2 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  37. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (See Step 3 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  38. INSTALL INTEGRATION CONTROL PANEL WITH RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  39. INSTALL MULTI-DISPLAY WITH RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System) (See Step 8 in  INSTALLATION  ) 
  40. INSTALL CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Engage the 4 claws and install the center lower instrument cluster finish panel.

  41. INSTALL NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Engage the 11 claws and install the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly.

  42. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips.

    2. Install the 2 bolts < C >.

    3. Install the 2 bolts < C >.
    4. Connect the connector.

    5. Connect the connectors.
    6. Engage the 2 clamps.
    7. Install the 2 bolts < C >.

  43. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and 4 clips, and then install the console box register assembly.
    2. Install the rear ash receptacle assembly.

  44. INSTALL FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Insert the protruding parts of the front ash receptacle sub-assembly into the 2 guide holes.

    3. Install the front ash receptacle sub-assembly with the 2 screws < F >.

    1. Engage the 6 clips.

    2. Close the snap.

    2. Close the snap.

    1. Engage the claw and 2 clips, and then install the upper No. 2 console panel garnish.

    1. Engage the claw and 2 clips, and then install the upper No. 1 console panel garnish.

  50. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  52. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  53. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    NOTE: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal (See INITIALIZATION ).
  54. INSPECT STEERING PAD (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  55. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
