Front Door Window Frame Moulding: Removal
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM COVER LOWER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUBASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM COVER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE DOOR FRAME GARNISH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING UPPER
- Using a drill bit with a diameter of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the 7 rivet flanges.CAUTION: Be careful as the cut rivet will be very hot.NOTE: Do not drill the rivet at an angle as this will cause damage to the drill and drill hole. Line up the drill and rivet, and carefully drill out the rivet head.
HINT:
Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.20 in.) from the tip of the drill bit, as shown in the illustration.
- Continue drilling and push out the remaining rivet fragments using the drill.
- Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled areas.
- Remove the front door window frame moulding from the door frame.
- Using a drill bit with a diameter of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the 7 rivet flanges.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING REAR
- Using a drill bit with a diameter of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the 3 rivet flanges.CAUTION: Be careful as the cut rivet will be very hot.NOTE: Do not drill the rivet at an angle as this will cause damage to the drill and drill hole. Line up the drill and rivet, and carefully drill out the rivet head.
