NOTE: Strip off the vinyl tape of the power mirror motor connector and remove terminals No. 6, 7, 9, 10, 15 and 16 from the connector housing. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .
  1. Connect a series of three 1.5 V dry cell batteries.
  2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the dry cell batteries to terminal No. 9 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 15 of the power mirror motor connector.
  3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal No. 16 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 15.
  4. Apply battery positive voltage to terminals No. 6 and 7. As mirror moves between the uppermost and lowermost positions, voltage should gradually change from 0-1.8 volts to 2.8-5.0 volts. If the voltage value is not as specified, replace the faulty motor assembly. See OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Disconnect the 4 leads of the battery and voltmeter.
  6. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal No. 10 and negative (-) lead to terminal No. 15.
  7. Apply battery positive voltage to terminals No. 7 and 8. As mirror moves from left-most to right-most position with voltage LEFT, voltage should gradually change from 2.8-5.0 volts to 0-1.8 volts. As mirror moves from left-most to right-most position with voltage RIGHT, voltage should gradually change from 0-1.8 volts to 2.8-5.0 volts. If voltage is not as specified, replace the faulty power mirror motor assembly. See OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
