NOTE: Defender service information is similar to Range Rover service information. Land Rover does not provide Defender specific service information.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: Some vehicles are equipped with electrochromic (day/night) rear view mirrors. Except for wiring diagrams, information for electrochromic rear view mirrors is not available from manufacturer. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

The mirror housing is hinged vertically and should be set in one of the two fixed angle positions provided to suit the respective left or right side mirror location. Additionally, for safety and convenience, the mirror housing is designed to fold completely forward or backward against the vehicle body. See Fig 1 .

Fine adjustment is controlled by an electric motor inside the mirror housing. This is operated by 2 controls fitted in the dash panel. To adjust, select left or right hand mirror. Move the head of the finger tip control to the left, right, up or down as required. The mirror also incorporates a defogger facility, activated by operation of the rear window defogger switch. For additional heated mirrors WIRING DIAGRAMS, see appropriate WINDOW DEFOGGERS & HEATED MIRRORS article.
