Repair Procedures: Replacement

  1. Remove the battery (-) terminal.
  2. Use the retrieval/reproduction/charging device to retrieve the refrigerant.
    WARNING:
    • Use the refrigerant retrieval/charge device exclusively used for the electric compressor to inject the designated refrigerant (R-1234yf) and refrigeration oil (POE). If the refrigeration oil (PAG) for the ordinary car is injected, the compressor may be damaged or a safety-related accident may occur.
  3. Unfasten the mounting bolts and separate the expansion valve (A) from the evaporator core.

    Tightening Torque:  7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • After removing the line, mount the plug or cap to protect the system from humidity and dust.
    • Replace the O-ring with a new one for installation.
  4. Unfasten the mounting bolts and remove the pipe (A) from the indoor unit.

    Tightening Torque:  7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  5. Remove the cowl top cover.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")

  6. Unfasten the cowl crossbar assembly mounting bolts.

  7. Remove the front pillar trim.

    (Refer to Body - "FRONT PILLAR TRIM ")

  8. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")

  9. Remove the side trims on both sides.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL SIDE TRIM ")

  10. Remove the crash pad lower panel.

    (Refer to Body - "CRASH PAD LOWER PANEL ")

  11. Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

    (Refer to Body - "STEERING COLUMN SHROUD PANEL ")

  12. Remove the steering wheel.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")

  13. Remove the multifunction switch.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System- "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")

  14. Unfasten the mounting nuts and penetrating bolts on the front and lower the steering column.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING COLUMN AND SHAFT ")

  15. Separate the various connectors (A) connected to the interior junction box.

  16. Separate the various connectors (A) connected to the multi-box.

  17. After loosening the mounting nuts, remove the rear console bracket (A).

  18. After loosening the mounting bolt, remove the floor air duct (A).

  19. After loosening the mounting nuts, remove the front console bracket (A).

  20. Disconnect the airbag system control module connector (A).

  21. Separate the floor carpet (A) to the back.

  22. Remove the mounting bolts at the bottom of the blower unit.

    Tightening Torque:  3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft)

  23. Separate the drain hose (A).

  24. Remove the mounting clip on the front pillar, and separate the connectors (A).

  25. Unfasten the mounting nuts & bolts and remove the crash pad and heater and blower unit (A) altogether from the vehicle.

  26. Remove the various connectors from the heater and blower unit.

    [Driver Seat] 

    1. Separate the mode control actuator connector (A), duct sensor connector (B) and the PTC connector (C).

    [Passenger Seat] 

    1. Separate the temperature control actuator connector (A) and evaporator temperature sensor connector (B).

    2. Separate the mode control actuator connector (B) and the auto defogging actuator connector (A).

    3. Separate the intake actuator connector (A).

    4. Separate the blower motor connector (A).

  27. Unfasten the heater and blower unit mounting bolts and the PTC grounding bolts.

    Tightening Torque:  3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft)

  28. Unfasten the mounting nuts and remove the heater and blower unit from the crash pad.

    Tightening Torque:  3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft)

  29. Unfasten the screw and separate the blower unit (B) from the heater unit (A).

  30. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
