Parking Lights Will Not Turn On

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check BCM for any DTCs. If any DTCs are present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. Perform appropriate testing. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, select BODY SENSORS. Read HEADLIGHT SW VOLTS. Rotate headlight switch through all positions. Compare readings to specifications. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace left multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Remove parking light relay from junction block. See Figure . Install a known-good relay in junction block. Operate parking lights. If parking lights do not operate correctly, go to next step. If parking lights operate correctly, replace defective parking light relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Remove parking light relay from junction block. Disconnect appropriate inoperative parking light connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of parking light output circuit between parking light relay socket terminal No. 30 and inoperative parking light connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open parking light output circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
