Rear Wiper Not Working In Delay Position

  1. Turn ignition on. Turn rear wiper switch on. If rear wiper operates, go to next step. If rear wiper does not operate, go to REAR WIPER NOT WORKING AT ALL .
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove liftgate trim panel. Disconnect rear wiper motor connector. See Figure. Turn rear wiper switch to DEL position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between rear wiper motor connector terminals No. 4 (Brown/Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or greater, replace rear wiper motor. See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn rear wiper switch to OFF position. Using DVOM, measure resistance between rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Yellow wire between right multifunction switch and rear wiper motor. After repairs, check right multifunction switch. Short may have burned contacts in switch. Replace right multifunction switch if necessary. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Disconnect right multifunction switch connector. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between right multifunction switch connector terminal No. 6 and rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 4. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace right multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
