VTSS Does Not Trip From Liftgate

  1. Open liftgate. Ensure liftgate flip-up glass is closed. Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read LIFTGATE SW status. If status is not CLOSED, go to next step. If status is CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Remove liftgate inner trim panel. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. See Figure. Connect a jumper between liftgate ajar switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Tan/Black wire). Read LIFTGATE SW status. If status is not CLOSED, go to next step. If status is CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Disconnect junction block connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Black wire between junction block connector C1 terminal No. 25 and liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Tan/Black wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of circuit between junction block connector C1 cavity terminal No. 25 and BCM junction block connector terminal No. 21. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
