Relay Circuit Test
NOTE:
Perform DEFOGGER RELAY TEST
before performing this test. For relay circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and relay connector terminal No. 30. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAM . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace fuse in Power Distribution Center (PDC) and/or repair open circuit in wiring harness as necessary.
- Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between relay connector terminal No. 87 and wires between defogger switch connector terminal No. 3, right and left mirror grids and rear window defogger grid connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAM . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit(s) as necessary.
- With defogger switch on, continuity should exist between ground and defogger relay connector terminal No. 85. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, ensure defogger switch is on and retest. If continuity still does not exist, repair open circuit in wiring harness as necessary.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and relay connector terminal No. 86. See Figure . If battery voltage is not present, repair open in power circuit. If battery voltage is present, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL TEST .
