Instrument Panel Test

NOTE: Perform DEFOGGER RELAY TEST  before performing this test.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove defogger relay. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Remove instrument cluster. See the INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and defogger switch sense circuit terminal (Dark Blue/White wire) at instrument cluster right side connector. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground.
  3. Check continuity of Dark Blue/White wire between defogger switch sense circuit terminal at instrument cluster right side connector and defogger switch connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire.
  4. Check continuity between ground and defogger relay control circuit terminal (Light Blue/White wire) at instrument cluster right side connector. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground.
  5. Check continuity between defogger relay control circuit terminal (Light Blue/White wire) at instrument cluster right side connector and defogger relay connector terminal No. 85. See Figure . If continuity does not exist, repair open in Light Blue/White wire. If continuity exists, defogger circuits are okay. Replace instrument cluster.
