Generator Warning Light

For vehicles without a charge warning light, refer to CHARGING SYSTEM TEST

- Check belt and wiring. Ensure battery is fully charged and main fusible link is okay. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light comes on, go to step 3). If charge indicator light does not come on, go to next step.
- Unplug generator connector. Using a fused jumper wire, connect "L" terminal of harness connector (White/Blue wire) to ground. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . If charge indicator light comes on, repair or replace generator. If charge indicator light does not come on, locate and repair open in (White/Blue wire) between harness connector "L" terminal and ignition switch. Check for an open in generator warning light bulb.
- Start engine and allow it to idle. If charge indicator goes out, check system for normal charging voltage (13-16 volts). If charge indicator light stays on, turn ignition off. Disconnect generator connector. Start engine and allow it to idle. If charge indicator light remains on, check for short to ground in White/Blue wire. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . If charge indicator light goes off, replace or repair generator.
