Dimmer Switch

  1. Locate and disconnect combination switch harness connector near steering column. See COMBINATION SWITCH TEST  under TESTING. Check continuity between combination switch connector terminals as shown in tables. See COMBINATION SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  and DIMMER SWITCH TERMINAL CONTINUITY  s. SeeFigure .
    DIMMER SWITCH TERMINAL CONTINUITY

    Switch Position Terminal Continuity
    Low 16 & 13
    High 16 & 15
    Passing 16, 15 & 14
  2. If circuit continuity is NOT as specified, replace combination switch. See COMBINATION SWITCH R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If dimmer switch circuit continuity is okay but problem persists, check power circuit to dimmer switch and check wiring circuits from switch connector. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
